Above average snowfall and continuing winter conditions opens a new opportunity for alpine ski racers

PANORAMA, B.C. – April 15, 2017 – As the resort heads into what would traditionally be the end of winter operations, more than twice the number of runs remain open that were available to skiers at this time in 2016 and 2015. 122 out of a total 125 trails are currently available to skiers and snow depth at the Summit is well above normal at 160 cm.

“Panorama’s extensive snow-making system helped us to establish a deep snow base early in the season” commented Andrew Cradduck, Director of Mountain Operations. “Spring temperatures in the alpine have remained below zero and there’s still 100% snow coverage right down to the village. With so much snow trails like Rollercoaster, Skyline and Old Timer offer optimum race training.”

After the resort celebrates the end of the public season on Sunday, April 16 a new program will be offered. Between April 16-24, 2017 Panorama Mountain Resort will welcome the nation’s top under 16 alpine racing athletes and coaches to take part in the a Spring Camp. Athletes will gain exclusive access to the mountain and training facilities available at the Panorama Race Centre.

“Throughout the winter season the resort team is committed to providing world-class race training. We are excited to host the next generation of alpine racers”, said Panorama CEO & President, Steve Paccagnan. “With reliable late-season snow coverage and ongoing investment in snowmaking equipment and slope grooming, Panorama offers an elite training experience.”

Over the course of the eight-day training camp athletes will train on Downhill, Super G and GS courses with up to 1000 metres of vertical available. Panorama expects to see the spring camp grow in the years to come with hopes of offering post-season training to teams and athletes from around the world.
