What's new and notable for the 60th anniversary season

In March 2022 Panorama will become the first resort in Western North America to host the FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships. Top athletes from Canada and around the world will race for the podium in the nine-day festival from March 1. Teams and their supporters will experience a resort that didn’t let the pandemic get in the way of guest focused improvements and bold plans for the future.

New Townhomes at Panorama

After an exhaustive search for the very best development partner, Panorama chose to move forward with Dominium because of their focus on first-class design, and a history of excellence in both Alberta and British Columbia. 1, 2 and 3-bedroom homes in a modern mountain style are coming soon to the base of the Silver Platter. A presentation centre will open in the resort this winter with construction expected to begin in spring 2022. More details coming soon.

Leading edge snowmaking efficiency

The resort’s renowned Alpine Training Centre has seen improvements in snowmaking and safety infrastructure, including the installation of North America’s first TechnoAlpin TT10 fan guns. “Further enhancing Panorama’s racing and training facility enables us to draw international visitation during November, early December and late spring, which are traditionally lower volume periods,” said Steve Paccagnan, President and CEO of Panorama Mountain Resort.

Snowmaking for the 2021-22 winter season commenced on October 11.

Groomed to perfection

Recognized year after year for the quality of grooming on Canada’s longest fall-line cruisers, Panorama will stay in front with two new Prinoth snow cats. With one of North America’s biggest ski mountains to groom each night, fuel efficiency is paramount and these machines are best in class.

More lines where the powder is deep

A multi-year glading and trail enhancement program continues in Taynton Bowl, meaning classic backcountry-style runs like Heli High, B1st and Kinbasket are now easier to ski. A new trail in Sun Bowl, Solarium, will see its first tracks in December. Terrain shaping took place in Founder’s Ridge, widening narrow spots on Madson’s Mile and making access to Delesalle easier for intermediate skiers and riders.

More trails for Nordic skiers and Fat Tire bikers

Collaborating with Greywolf Golf Course, Panorama has built the foundation of a trail system that will soon be among the best in Western Canada. Named after a historic Purcell Mountain mine, Mineral King is a new year-round, multi-use trail in the Monument Network. Last season, the resort added a Prinoth Husky Nordic snowcat to its fleet. This year, a Snowdog singletrack groomer has been purchased to ensure excellent biking for fat tire enthusiasts.

Seamless access to Columbia Valley cross-country trails

The Panorama Nordic Centre has partnered with the Toby Creek Nordic Society and Nipika Mountain Resort to offer the region’s very first Tri-Area Nordic Pass. Adults can ski all Columbia Valley trail networks, all season, starting from only $181 (discounted rate available until November 7, 2021).

A boost for remote workers and ski movie streamers

Village residents and many resort guests will have access to leading-edge internet services after TELUS installed fibre optic cables throughout the resort.

A smoother arrival

After a summer of highway improvements, skiers and riders travelling the scenic canyon between Invermere, BC and Panorama will enjoy a much smoother drive. On arrival, owners of Porsche E-Performance and other electric vehicles will find two new rapid charging stations at the resort’s lodging Central Check-In.

It’s the details that make the difference

The T-Bar and Grill is a long-time favourite for locals and newcomers alike. This winter patrons will notice a difference with a refreshed entrance, flooring and furniture. Village pathways have also been repaved, making the short stroll to Canada's largest slopeside pools at Panorama Springs even easier.

So much more to come

The most complete ski-in / ski-out resort in the Canadian Rockies region is about to add even more appeal with news that a long-awaited refresh of the Pine Inn will start in April 2022. Millions will be invested to transform the inn into the coolest accommodation just a snowball’s throw from the Mile 1 Express. Watch for more details in spring.

Panorama will open exclusively for alpine race training on November 5, hosting training camps for a record number of national and regional teams. The resort will open to the public December 10, 2021 – April 17, 2022.
