Snow Information

FEB 27
Spring cycle snow below 1500m (Mile One), so stay on the groom for the lower lifts and expect PM softening in rising temperatures and especially on sunnier slopes. Mid mountain bumps are generally skiing a good packed base, with some loose snow in spots to soften your path. Double black terrain holds some good snow, which may change nature a bit in areas today, either wind packing or becoming wind deposited according to aspect.

Taynton tales for late February (more or less 'regular' Taynton now):
Taynton to Never Never Land is generally skiing quite nicely with a good base and powder turns, especially in the top half. The lower half is skiing well overall after semi regular February falls. Most creek sections through the ski outs have filled in. Funnel is the toughest of the exits, with narrower channels. Cauldron is wider with soft packed bumps, and the far meadow drainage has some good turns down to Landing Strip, which now skis at least double the width after summer expansion. Monster terrain has opened fully, barring Wild Thing extesion, and is regularly monitored for conditions. There are hidden hazards, and it is recommended for advanced/expert broadboarders of both disciplines. MONSTER X cats run Thurs - Sun. Purchase tickets in advance at Guest Services.

Nordic and multi-use trails out of Greywolf are enjoying a highly rated season overall. Despite recent warm weather, the mostly shaded trails continue to ski better than expected! Some mixed conditions as sun changes things during the day. Please check our Nordic webpage, or direct at the Nordic Centre for more detailed information.

Weather Information

FEB 27
Mix of sun and cloud, with the outside chance of isolated flurries. SW winds are the big player today, with the summit and ridge elevations getting moderately strong average wind speeds and some very strong gusts. This should be at it's peak late morning, gradually easing through into the evening. Lower slopes are more protected, so should see lighter winds. Below zero at the base overnight, climbing towards a positive peak near +10C, while upper slopes remain in the mild sub zero range.

SNOW REPORTER BIOGRAPHY - EVAN PACEY

About Snow Report Evan 2

Triskaidekaphobic's beware!! It's a baker's dozen. Lucky for some, unlucky for others. Snow reporting primetime – the Wandering Wordsmith is on the scene for season 13! Meet your Snow Reporter:

His office is expansive, the heating bills are low
The floors are far from level, but the feng shui has good flow
All around, the views abound, but not through a window
Out and about on our fair mount, sliding on the snow!

Analytical tools aplenty, intel from the brainstrust, the knowledge and wisdom of the Panorama Avalanche Office, reports from the grooming crew, and the processing power possessed by the Countess of Accumulation, all combine to resource and inform your snow report.

In conversation with a weather station; providing explanation of the information; finding inspiration in precipitation; it's an interpretation with imagination! Not languid with his language, he knows his semaphore from his metaphor and his airhead's from his oxymoron's. Leading you to the rough diamonds and well groomed alike, it's all about explain and infotain for a net gain in our terrain!
